CONDITION:  Saucer has clean light crazing in the glaze that is hardly noticeable.

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by George Jones around 1860.  It is not marked, and only has a hand painted number, 6635, but the shape is identified in the “Compendium of British Cups”.  The saucer has a diameter of 5 inches.  The cup is 2 1/4 inches tall with a diameter of 2 1/4 inches.  The ground color is a delightful robin’s egg blue.  Both pieces are hand painted with wild roses and foliage.  The central blossom on each piece is a pronounced, raised enamel flower. The interior of the cup is pink.  The handle is painted to resemble a branch with leaves.  Delicate dental gilding trims the rims on both pieces.  It is an adorable example of English aesthetic style.  #C847
