This is a rare Japanese cardboard ( Edo period) telescope in red enamel. The exterior is embossed with

European style patterns including scrolling foliage and geometric patterns . Both original end covers are still

with this example. The original five elements (non-achromatic) are complete and produce sharp images.

Auction results show similar telescopes selling for many times what I am asking for this scope. Slowly selling off my collection.
