Led Zeppelin Wembley Empire Pool, London 1971 Giant Poster Type Advert VERY HARD TO FIND GIANT ADVERTISEMENT! This was to be the last show of the Winter 1971 United Kingdom Tour supporting Led Zeppelin IV (Zoso) but a second show on teh 21st was added due to demand. The shows at the Wembley Empire Pool, Wembley Park, were dubbed the "Electric Magic" show. These five hour shows included bizarre vaudeville circus acts with plate spinners, trapeze artists and performing pigs which were dressed in policeman's uniforms. This was the first concert tour on which the band visually projected the "four symbols" which adorned their fourth album onto their stage equipment. Jimmy Page's "Zoso" symbol was put onto one of his Marshall amplifiers, John Bonham's three interlinked circles adorned the outer face of his bass drum. John Paul Jones had his symbol stenciled onto material which was draped across his Fender Rhodes keyboard and Robert Plant's feather symbol was painted onto a side speaker PA cabinet.
These advertisements ran in various publications for the purpose of promoting a bands tour or performance. Printed in a variety of sizes (note description), and on various paper stocks from glossy magazine paper to newsprint these RARE ads were often created for a limited time, sometimes running only for a single issue. Because of the limited nature of these ads often times the artwork is different or varied from that used in the traditional promotional campaigns creating rare one offs and variations. These are most often collected and/or framed. As these ads become more and more scarce certain ads are becoming highly desirable for their investment potential. |
