Dennison was the leader in craft paper and crepe paper in the last century.  I sure wish they were still around!  They made the cutest things, and had the best ideas.  Most of what they did was in order to sell their mainstay, crepe paper.  They put out a TON of craft books showing how to use their crepe paper.  You could make just about anything out of crepe paper.  The little paper dolls they sold were to encouage, you got it in one, sales of crepe paper.  The little dolls came dressed only in their undies, with patterns for cutting out and making doll clothes from crepe paper.  Many little girls got industrious, and made clothes of real cloth, and all kinds of paper scrap and gift wrapping paper.  It is truly fun to dress these little dolls.  I had an aunt who was incredibly talented in sewing and crafts, and she would dress these little dolls in elaborate costumes, and then display them in a cabinet.  I always really really wanted those little dollies!  I am not so talented, so my dollies mostly went undressed.  I blame her for my desire to collect stuff.  She took me to thrift stores, and I got bit by the collecting bug.

So anyway, this little doll stands about 6 inches tall, and has jointed arms and legs.  This one is a toddler girl.  They made dolls of all ages, from baby up to older teens, in both boys and girls.  This one is unisex, except for the pink bows on her undershirt.  I can't remember if I was scandalized or not, that they were in their underwear (I am 74).

She has a few flaws - she has patina, which is the word for the aged look things get over time.  If it doesn't have patina, it may not be old.  Patina is a good thing.  Also, she does have a few flaws.  She has a crease at her neck, and on one arm.  These come from getting the doll into and out of clothes.  They are made from a nice weight cardstock, so they can be handled, but it becomes brittle with age, and will crease.  They have to be handled carefully.

The pictures above are done with a camera, and then with a scanner, so you can see closely what they look like.
