Up for sale here is this PE01 preamp board rebuild set for the Marantz 4300 or 4400. This is all the parts you need to rebuild a Marantz 4300/4400 PE01 tone amp/preamp board. Over time the preamp boards start developing issues with transistors and capacitors, and often the old parts are weak and failing. We will make them new again!

This kit includes replacements for all 18 electrolytic capacitors, all 20 transistors, and all four VD1212 varistors. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. The capacitors are all Nichicon PW and Nichicon KL caps at the correct uf and the same or higher voltage ratings and the transistors are Fairchild/Onsemi KSC1845, KSA992, KSC2383, and KSA1013, which are the correct subs for the original transistors. Each VD1212 is replaced with two 1N4148 diodes in series. These are the same parts I use when I rebuild Marantz gear. There's a reason that the professionals use Wima film caps for this board--they just sound better. Also, frankly, "recapping" is a waste of time if you're not going to replace the transistors as well. A lot of times the transistors age worse than the caps, so you should definitely change out the transistors while you're in there.

I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but this is a moderately complicated rebuild, and you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron. This kit may not fix your Marantz if it has other issues, but it will definitely help it run better, and should fix just about any preamp board problems. Please see my pictures for details.
