1 original magazine cover from The New Yorker magazine September 9, 1985.

Cover Artist: J. J. Sempé (1932-2022)

Cover elements: A middle-aged man in suit, hat, and briefcase, sits on a child's swing and takes in the sunset. Full of Sempé 's sense of appreciation for the moment.  This familiar cover artist has done several variations this theme--  "the contemplative man"--who takes a break from what he's doing and takes in a work of art, the moon, the vast ocean, a display window, the rising sun, the setting sun etc.  The message is part of what draws collectors to his work and makes him one of my favorite cover artists.
