This listing is for a Eudialyte Sphere from KolŠ° Peninsula, Russia. The stone has burgundy red with some iridescence. The sphere's Eudialyte coverage is approx. 60%. The rest of the surface is inclusion of white Nepheline and black Aegirine, which are interesting minerals as well. The sphere has also a small area of the rare golden Lamprophillite, best seen in direct light.
Eudialyte has a complex chemical formula which contains sodium, calcium, iron, manganese, zirconium and niobium. This is a rare mineral which exhibits a glassy, rich red colour. It is found in a granite mix with Aegirine and Albite in Greenland, Canada and Russia. Recently small deposits of Eudialyte were discovered in South Africa but the best gem quality Eudialyte still comes from Russia.
