This has been designed to work with the CX40 (the most common by far) joystick so feel free to contact me if you have questions.
This has been revised to now include support for Hyperkin Trooper and the 2600+ joystick (aka CX-40+).
Version 4 now offers added padding inside each controller bay to support CX40 and the new CX40+ joysticks (2600+)
This is a coupler I designed that allows you to play games like robotron which rely on having both joysticks available to the player. Beyond Robotron, here are some other games that take advantage of dual joysticks*.

Rubber grips on the bottom help hold it stationary on flat surfaces.
