A truly remarkable and scarce piece of Columbiana. A 127 year old chatelaine set with pocket watch holder graced with the Columbus Coat of Arms for the 1893 World's Fair 400th Anniversary Discovery of America Columbian Exposition.

This gorgeous pocket watch chatelaine was designed with the Columbus Coat of Arms and stamped Chicago 1893 on the back. The pocket watch holder is a finely crafted gold washed Victorian filigreed design, which matches all the other pieces in this extremely rare set.

The beauty, versatility, and craftsmanship presented in this set allowed the Lady to display her status and extravagance in multiple stylistic combinations. The Lady would have the option to wear the set symmetrically placed around her waist belt as one stunning piece presenting itself in unison. Alternatively, she may have opted for the more often preferred option, as such was the case when possessing a chatelaine of such stature and significance, to wear the chatelaine on her lapel or chest. Wearing the chatelaine on her lapel or chest exhibiting the Columbus Coat of Arms and the surrounding beautifully woven Victorian filigree would have made the immediate conversation piece. This would have allowed the matching waist belt buckles and diamond shaped finials to be breadcrumb precursors to conversations upon approach to the Lady or opportunities to point out obvious reasons to continue admiration during mid-conversation (if the Lady so chose) or they would be adoring pieces of the afterglow of the lady as she continued to move past the crowd.

Finding a Columbian rarity such as the chatelaine happens few and far between. Finding an entire set, such as this set, is unparalleled.
