A day in the life-of-a-dj, offering an almost impossible to track-down Sony mds-dre-1 (photos 1-and-2) The one and only professional minidisc player dominated the club scene geared towards the tactile technicians at-large when DJs were once the true master of their own mixing domain. Pre-dated Torq or Serato. No software-based program aid and no screen-gazing, but just pure hands-on old-school mixing talent! Equally unique is a custom-cut to specs, well-built road case is included in the deal. The specimen featured here is practically new and was just part of my personal collection with only less than 10-hours of use.

Check out other minidisc and dat units up for grabs separately:

1. An extremely rare Denon dn-m2000r broadcast quality minidisc (photos 3-to-7, $1599) Packed with amazing features, including 5-hot starts that work like a sampler. I love this unit I own a few, but sold some, therefore only have 2 left in stock. The specimen featured here was just a back-up unit only with very low hours use. As a bonus, I'll throw-in a custom-built road case for easy transport and protection against shocks.

2. Another broadcast-grade Denon dn-m1050r model with balanced and unbalanced analog/digital I/Os is also available. (photos 8-to-16, $1399) Like new condition and just sitting on the display shelf most of its life. Manual included.

3. Refurbished Fostex D-5 dat machine (photos 16-to-22, $795) A day in a life of a DJ, sound engineer and A/V tech for some 3 decades, It's my conviction that any linear "tape" based format, analog or digital is far more superior audio than any non-linear digital media to date. However, I'm not here to argue, but rather express my subjective endorsement and support based on personal experience. Like the analog magnetic tape, Dat is no exception.

Minidisc and Dat are pretty much alive and kicking in my studio for personal and professional application. Perhaps it's time to rediscover tape and minidisc for yourself..it might change your opinion on how to capture your next master recordings.

These rare machines are no longer in production, becoming a hard commodity and very sought after due to it's high quality result of any studio or live recording project and intuitively easy to use that is still relevant in digital culture of today…
So grab one while it lasts!

Like most vintages some superficial imperfections are almost expected but in no way impede normal functionally and will be hard pressed to find one in this state of condition.

Shipping and handling may vary on location.
