This item is handmade artisan, uniquely designed and one of a kind. Hand crafted and hand hammered, decorative edge, footed about 2" high (most trays are not footed). The tray features a large five pointed star of Morocco at center with a flower design in the middle of the star, also has very small stars hand-hammered throughout. Somewhat rustic finish, bottom-side shows artisan's decision to change footings, once completed. Even though this is artisan made, it appears to have a level serving surface. The tray surface appear fairly even, except for small indentation near rolled edge.
The silver tray is thick and heavy, the tray is tarnished with surface imperfections, spots and a vintage patina as shown in photos. The joints around the top edge are not evenly closed and have some wear (see photo). The decorative edge is not evenly spaced all the way around the tray and some small gaps are visible. From a side-view, the rolled top edge swerves in one area further adding to its hand-hewn charm. There are some spots on top of tray (vintage patina has not been polished or cleaned) and there is a greenish or darkish patina in some areas on bottomside of tray. These imperfections may be hard to see in photos which is why they are have been described above.
It is silver in color but do not know the exact composition of the piece, just that it looks aged. Monogrammed signature on bottom looks very old and depicts a rooster. Any further information from the eBay community is welcomed on what the logo represents or the age of this piece would be appreciated or if the stars have any meaning. Piece was acquired at an antique shop outside of the U.S. Photos were taken in two different locations. Coloring may appear different depending on your computer monitor. Antique/vintage piece being sold as is so please review photos carefully. Additional photos available upon request. From wiki: A "regular star polygon" is a self-intersecting, equilateral equiangular polygon. Measures 16" diameter, heavy gauge, weighs about 3 lbs. 2 oz.
Note: Does not include the black cast iron tray stand shown in a couple of the photos but these tray stands (in various sizes) are available for purchase separately.
