These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. These are the same parts I use when I rebuild Sansui equipment. I have rebuilt quite a few 9090s (and 5050s, 6060s, 7070s, 9090DBs, etc) in the last few years. The 9090 was the king of Sansui receivers, at least at the time (ignoring the later G-series), and it deserves a high-quality rebuild. Capacitors are Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Nichicon EP bipolar, Panasonic FC, Wima film, Panasonic film, and Chemi-Con for the main filters. Transistors are Fairchild/Onsemi.
Why buy this kit over the others on eBay?
- Brand new, correct size main filter capacitors
- 2.2 uf 250v Panasonic film bypass caps for the main filter caps
- A full recap kit for the tuner board--no skipping that one!
- The proper MY4 relay included. Otherwise, eventually the original relay will wear out, and you will lose a channel at low volume.
- Replacements for ALL small transistors (except the bias/drivers and tuner board transistors). There are a lot of bad transistors on the 9090, and they desperately need replacing. No one else is as obsessed with replacing transistors as I am, and no one else includes replacements for as many transistors. Your receiver will sound so much better with those ancient transistors gone.
- Full rebuild kit for the driver board, which includes replacements for the 4 trimmers, 12 resistors, 8 transistors, 2 zener diodes, and the 6 glass bead diodes.
- Replacements for the small fuse resistors on the watt meter boards.
- The proper low-leakage caps are included. There are loads of Nichicon KL and Wima film caps in this kit, which are necessary for a correct rebuild.
- 8 new TO-3 mica insulators are included for the output transistors
- Very clear instructions on how to set the driver board voltages
- 8 replacement fuses for the power supply board and driver board (for the service bulletins)
- Surprisingly detailed and well-written instructions, plus a link to download a free service manual
The Sansui 9090 has a LOT more parts in it than a typical vintage stereo receiver. This kit includes a total of 161 parts. This will be a moderately long rebuild. The parts for each board are individually bagged for ease of installation, and the instructions will tell you how the transistors and diodes go in, but there are a LOT of parts to replace here, so if you do not have a lot of experience with vintage gear I would not recommend starting with this one. You should know what you're doing and have a good soldering iron, a desoldering gun such as a Hakko FR-301, heat-sink compound, and a dim-bulb tester with 100W or 150W incandescent bulb.
Please see my pictures for details. No generic pictures here--I have clear pictures of the actual parts you will receive.
US shipping and handling is $10, and international is $28. If you have any questions, please ask.
