This Buy it Now is for a Hornby R8205/X5040 Live Steam Controller and Transformer X5039 and as pictured, we are including the power cable and the two expensive unit cables - one to connect the transformer to the controller and the other to connect the controller to your track.
These items are being offered on a 'Spares or Repair' basis, for 'Spare Parts only'.
Whilst we are offering these as being untested and on a 'Spares or Repair for spare parts only' basis, we have in fact tested the transformer and can confirm that the red light comes on and that there is an electrical output. We can't however properly test the controller because we don't have a Live Steam facility.
We have had a few of these and have noticed that on some of them there are not all four little rubber push-in 'feet' on the bottom. Sorry about the postage charge but this items weighs nearly 7 kg when packed.
We have been told that one of the main reasons for there being an issue with the controller is that a little ball bearing and spring get dislodged from part of the internal mechanism, and end up loose in the controller. We understand that the main reason why people 'fall out' with Live Steam is nothing to do with whether or not the system actually works, but they find it a bit complicated and simply give up and blame the controller...
