For sale is this set of TWO (2) vintage matching porcelain bisque figurines that double as spill vases in the form of a boy and girl set in a rustic, harvest scene. The girl wears a gold-spotted dirndl skirt with a green apron bust, pale green blouse, soft tan hat with feather, and brown shoes with gilt trim. She holds an empty basket under one arm and raises her right finger, perhaps to admonish her brother not to eat until his work is done. The boy, similarly clad in gold-dotted blue short pants, pale green peasant's blouse, tan hat with feather, and tan clogs with gold accents, holds a partially eaten slice of bread. Sheaves of wheat and flowers -- picked out in green, tan, blue and gilt - surround them, and to emphasize the harvest scene, each figure has a small silver-accented sickle or hand scythe beside them. The figures are light-haired with painted brown eyes and rosy cheeks and lips.

These are most likely German made circa the early 1900s. Both are marked 9645 on the back, at the base. The sheaves of wheat open to become vases if you choose to use them that way. They measure about 9 inches tall at their tallest points and about 7 inches wide at their widest.

These have a couple of condition issues - both show a bit of scuffing and paint loss here or there. Part of the feather in the boy's hat looks like it was broken and repaired - it shows paint loss as well. If you give the girl's figurine a gentle shake, you can hear a tiny piece of porcelain rattling around inside. She has a bit of a crack at the bottom base. I am unable to shake it out - it may be a leftover from the firing process. But it's not hurting anyone. Otherwise, these show a bit of scuffing here and there and dust residue inside.

These came out of the 1972 estate of my late great aunt, who owned an antique store in Avilla, Indiana. That's her handwritten price sticker in the last photo - my mom saved it, as these were displayed for a long time.
