An special exhibition catalogue presented by the National Palace Museum showing 151 painted enamel wares covering the period of three Qing emperors (K'ang-hsi, Yung-cheng and Ch'ien-lung). Coloured enamel or painted enamel was not native to China. During Kangxi period, a type of special porcelain powder was imported from Europe to China. The process of making enamel wares is different from that of imperial porcelain. The painted enamel wares were first made into white in Jingdezhen kiln and then were sent to the imperial workshop in Beijing for painting
