Unusually large automatic mechanical spring-operated bloodletting fleam. Brass body of unit has nice patina and is 3-1/16" long. Pulling back on the cocking lever locks the spring back in the ready position, which allows the unit to be placed on the skin, and when the trigger is depressed, releases the blade under pressure into the skin, drawing blood. Has sliding cover to see internals. Comes in a velvet-lined wooden case with good hook, has some chips in the leather covering and a split in the leather on the hinge, causing the hinge to be fragile. Velvet shows some glue at the hinge. Smaller fleam is shown for scale comparison and is not included.
