Fly the Rolls-Royce way to London
BEA Viscount Rolls-Royce Propeller Turbines
by Frank Wootton, 1953
The turbo-prop Vickers Viscount, powered with Rolls-Royce engines, was in large measure responsible for the enormous growth of BEA, the post-war British European and domestic airline.
In a turbo-prop, the propellers are driven by a jet engine, which was an important stage in the transition from propeller to jet power. In this era of British technical innovations which included the Comet and the turbo-prop, British engineering was synonymous with success.
This poster by Frank Wootton links a fine aircraft with the universally respected Rolls-Royce motor car.
