" WOODCUTS OF WAR - TIME CHINA. 1937-1945 "

This book of 100 Woodcuts was compiled the Chinese Woodcutters Association and published by the Kaiming Book Co. in Shaghai, 1946.  Most are black and white, some are in color. This is the Chinese / English language hardback edition. There is a paperback version as well. Both are exceedingly scarce but the hardback is the rarer of the two and rarely shows up for sale anywhere. The print run was undoubtedly very limited and few exist today outside of University and museum collections.

The woodcuts are Anti- Japanese social commentary, many in the Modern Social Realist style. Many artists are represented here. Zhang Yangxi and Chen Yan Qiao are two of the more notable ones herein. 

A unique and historically important collection.

good condition, very presentable, binding is solid, there are some smudges, light stains and wear to cover. pages are age-toned. please see photos.
