FRENCH Language book.

Entering service in 1969, the Mi-24 (code name “Hind” for NATO) is part of the very exclusive club of attack helicopters that have become legendary. Designed to be the flying equivalent of an infantry fighting vehicle, the Mil Mi-24 boasts unrivaled armament: 4-barrel 12.7mm gatling cannon, four 57mm rocket baskets as well as four AT-6 or AT-2 anti-tank missiles.

It is above all a helicopter also cut out for export: robust and inexpensive, this equipment is sent to many countries aligned with the Soviet bloc during the Cold War.

Thus, it is under the Ethiopian cockades that the Mi-24 knows its baptism of fire during the Ogaden war (1977-1978) against Somalia; he will then continue his career in Vietnam against the Khmer Rouge but especially during the invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviets. Still in service with many air forces and back in the spotlight during the war in Ukraine.
