Very rare to find a Kandya chair in good condition – even more rare to find 4!

These 4 chairs have all the hallmarks of being Carl Jacobs Kandya originals from their style and construction method.

Although painted black and white, it is believed this conceals the original beech wood and possibly the Kandya labels.  It is believed these chairs date to 1950s.

They are the sought after all wood version with gently tapering splayed wooden legs of Danish design. The seat and back appear to be folded from a single sheet of wood-faced flexible plywood, probably beech, that wraps around the chair and joins below the seat in a neat jigsaw puzzle type joint- see photo of underside of seat. The frame and legs are made of solid wood.

The chairs are in good condition, with no evidence of prior repair. One chair has a small nick on the seat-see photo. One chair has a small screw protrusion on the black base onto which the white seat is mounted- only visible when the chair is examined from underneath- see photo. A few slight scuffs where chairs have been stacked.

The chairs are stackable. Each chair measures: H 73cm, W 51.5cm, D 34cm, Seat Height 45cm.

I have owned these for 35 years.

Collection in person only.
