A cracking example of a
World War One
Other Rank's Cap Badge
for a member of
The Royal Flying Corps
1914-1918
Founded in May 1913 as the air arm of the Army
and adopting the moto
Per Ardua ad Astra
(Thorough Adversity to the Stars)
the RFC arrived in France on August 1 1914.
Operating in various aerial roles throughout
The Great War
including
Fighters, Bombers, Photo-reconnaissance & Artillery observation,
it merged with
The Royal Naval Air Service
on April 1st 1918 to become
The Royal Air Force
taking with it the former RFC motto.
A smashing brass OR's cap badge with
lugs and split-pin, it remains in a
superb, issued condition
with just small traces of verdigris to the rear.
Thanks for looking..!
