Alfred Edward Chalon (after) 19th century two engraving portraits. The portraits printed from steel plate engraving on paper & hand-colored. Made by 2 famous engravers - William Henry Mote & William Joseph Edwards. Relined and housed in 19th century French gilded wooden bow frame in Baroque style under the glass. The engraving paper is yellowish tint with a few rusty spots. The around thick under-frame paper is more yellowish and has hand painted floral ornament on upper and lower parts. The frames have some gold discoloration and fine crackled lines on the bows. Glass in intact.

Alfred Edward Chalon RA (1780 – 1860) was a Swiss-born British portraitist. He lived in London where he was noticed by Queen Victoria. Entered at the Royal Academy in 1797 where he was elected an associate (ARA) in 1812, then academician (RA) in 1816. Known for his portraits of the good society of London, he was chosen by Queen Victoria to paint a gift to her mother.

2. William Joseph Edwards (active 1838-1867) engraving "Thomas George, Viscount Anson, The Honble, Augustus Henry Archibald Anson and the Lady Gwendolena Isabella Anna Maria Anson. Children of the Earl of Lichfield. Titled as above. Left corner - A.E. Chalon R.A. Right corner "W. Edwards". Made circa 1839.
