In Malta, that military tribunal sentenced to death the Italian citizen Carmelo Borg Pisani who had reaffirmed his Italian nationality before the judges, thus justifying the acts carried out against the British forces occupying his land. The sentence was carried out, and Pisani fell shouting:"Long live Italy!"

In the waters of the Solomon Islands, a Japanese flotilla of five destroyers grappling with a powerful US naval formation, torpedoed and sank a battleship, a cruiser and two torpedo boats, losing only one of its units who had reaffirmed his Italian nationality before the judges, thus justifying the acts carried out
