Dorothy
Ashby - Seasons Greetings Fat Bob Sings Christmas EP on Benchmark Records Promotion Extended play 33 1/3 rpm Record featuring Dorothy Ashby
on harp.
Without a doubt one of the rarest records that Dorothy Ashby ever recorded in her lifetime was this extremely rare Christmas Extended Play 33 1/3 record that was released only through the Thunderbird Bowling Lanes that were in the city of Troy, Michigan. The record with its oversized paper envelope picture sleeve was probably given away as a promotion.
In the late 1950s or early 1960s Fat Bob was a local singer in the Detroit area and he released three seven inch records on the small Benmark record label. On all three releases Fat Bob hired Dorothy Ashby to play the harp on his records. All three records are extremely rare, the picture envelopes that these records came in are virtually impossible to find.
The record was released on Benmark Records and distributed
through Thunderbird Bowling Lanes in Troy, Michigan sometime in the
1950s-1960s.
