Offered here is a unique and possibly very rare World War II collectible art piece.  This is a service award plaque featuring a metal relief sculpture of a grenade throwing German soldier throwing a grenade in battle.  The metal piece is professionally mounted on a circular wooden plaque, which has wall-hanging mounts on the back.  The piece is unmarked so I am uncertain of the maker or date of the piece although it almost certainly is mid-20th century.  The piece measures 7 1/2" in diameter.  It's possible this was made or designed by German sculptor, Professor Otto Poertzel.  I have seen other service plaques like this one but never one featuring a grenade thrower infantryman.
