Ceci est une pipe, (This is a pipe), sculpture
This piece is inspired by " The Treachery of Images (Ceci n'est pas une pipe)", 1929 by René Magritte.
Created using a fragment of a clay pipe, dredged from the river Thames, its form restored without its function by a wooden violin bow, uplifted by interior parts of a flute.
This is a totally unique piece as every part is unique in its own but the viewer will see a new interpretation of each piece put together by the artist.
I created these sculptures by using broken or otherwise discarded objects, to give them new or continued life by reworking them as works of art. using Kintsukuroi, to not only repair, but also to celebrate the initial damage with golden emphasis. My work was inspired by knowledge of this art, and a desire to preserve the past, like most of my figurative work.

Materials used:

metal, wood, resin, glass, vintage objects, gold, silver
