Scarce original 1898 (Sept. 23rd) piece of ephemera to do with the Sheet Metal Workers Union #17 of Boston, Mass. Hand-signed by Joseph F. Gilchrist, Business Agent. Signed also by witness Chas. W. Sheen. To do with work being done at the Burton Brewery near Boston. Includes cancelled check for amount owed; signed by President of the Brewery (J. K. Souther & Sons). Three signatures signed on reverse of the check. The Union was formed just two years earlier; in 1896 (still active today, with 2,700 members).
