Also with a manuscript postcard depicting Florence from Freya Stark, dated October 1957: 'It was good of you to | write; it always is a | pleasure when someone | tells a writer that her | words have given something. | I hope you will like | the volume just out! | yours truly | Freya Stark Perowne.' Typographic bookplate of Jessie Strachan to front fly-leaf, quoting Milton. Some spotting and toning to edges and endpapers, otherwise a clean copy internally. Some light wear and spotting to jacket. Very good. The second instalment of Stark's later Turkish travels, following 'Ionia: A Quest' (1954).
