I first learned Ian Adair's Carnival Ribbons back in 1976, when I read the description of it in Adair's massive Encyclopedia of Dove Magic.   (I asked my Mom to make one for me on her sewing machine!)    Supreme Magic sold the prop back then, but it has not been available from magic dealer's for a few decades now.  

So unless you had Volume 2 of Adair's Encyclopedia, and a Mom with a sewing machine, you probably would not be able to add Carnival Ribbons to your act  :-)

But a new (and authorized) version, made by Sam Dalal's magic company, is available again.   It is just as colorful as the original Supreme prop, and just as easy to do.   

EFFECT:  magi shows a handful of loose ribbons, which dangle toward the floor.  The ribbons are given a good shake, and then gathered up into a bundle and from the ribbons emerges a live dove.   Or if you do not work with doves, you can produce a bottle (or can) of soda.

The gimmicked ribbons are self-contained, and although the method is not particularly ingenious, it is deceptive and creates a surprising production.   This model uses snap closures for the load bag, which are a bit harder to open than if velcro was used, but they do not make the tell-tale rip noise of velcro.  So well-suited to even a living room show.

I got a good deal on a few of these, so you can get this colorful production device for about half the regular price.
