Sorry, kids, X-Man is not for you. This game has nothing to do with Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm or any of the other X-Men. Rather, it is an adults-only affair (so to speak) in which you try to score points by scoring with a sexy blonde.
The introductory mode introduces the players in this virtual (though most certainly not virginal) game of mazes and making love. A naked blonde runs across the screen from the door on the right to the door on the left. In hot pursuit is X-Man, a "macho stud" who is obviously in a state of arousal (is that a joystick in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?) Next in line are three enemies: Crab, Scissors and Teeth. OUCH!
Once the game begins, you take on the role of X-Man, a guy who never met a sprite-based chick he didn't like. While one of the aforementioned mood-killers runs after you, you must run through a maze to the colored door in the center. If you can make it to your goal within the 99-second time limit, you will get to enter the boudoir of the vivacious blonde and take her as your own in a graphic display of sexual intercourse.
Although you are supposedly a macho stud, the game only gives you thirty seconds to reach climax by making love to the woman. You do this by jerking your joystick (the one on your Atari 2600!) back and forth as fast as you can. The higher the sexual excitement (as indicated by a meter at the bottom of the screen), the more bonus points you get.
After you bag the babe, you continue on to another maze and another. The game ends only when all of your "X-Men" have been caught by attackers. If you are stud enough to keep the game going, you will periodically be treated to a 30-second sex scene that plays automatically.
X-Man is a one-player game. If only there were a two-player simultaneous mode...

On auction is the authentic and unbelievably rare 1983 US/NTSC version of X-Man made by Universal Gamex for the Atari 2600. This game is factory sealed and has received a grade of 70 from the Video Game Authority. A Grading Summary by the VGA is also included. According to a recent VGA population report, only 2 copies exist in the world of the US/NTSC version of X-Man that are sealed and graded, and both are in identical condition with a grade of 70. X-Man one of the Holy Grails in vintage video gaming.
