Donald Zolan, recognized as America's Premier Children's artist for his heartwarming paintings of children, captures the joy and wonder of early childhood with an unmistakable energy and uninhibited naturalness that clearly belongs to our time. A timeless and classic art brand,

Zolan's own story about "New Shoes": "I remember so well getting new shoes when I was little that painting this picture was near and dear to my heart. My new shoes were always stiff as boards because they were hard leather, and Mom bought me shoes too big so they'd last awhile. She'd put cotton in the toes until they fit. So in "New Shoes" I gave this little boy comfortable sneakers. They're just his size. He probably got to choose them , too. Now he's home from shopping and he's run to his favorite part of the yard with his very favorite little person, and he's showing her his new shoes- one foot at a time. There's nothing that could make him feel more important right now than this, and that's why I painted these two just the way they are. His little friend has bare feet -she probably kicked her white sandals off to run barefoot through the grass. She's lifting one bare foot just a little, mimicking the way he's lifting his foot to show her his new shoe. These two are like two peas in a pod. That's why they're so close together sharing everything that comes their way. And that's why they're best friends"
