These were created over 48 years ago during the Chicano Renaissance of the late 1970's. It was a time when Chicanos settled in to enjoy the benefits won them by the Civil Rights Movement of the radical 1960's.

During this time in San Jose Califas there was a flurry of Latino activity which saw many Chicano owned businesses open and flourish. These license plate frames were created to develop an awareness of Chicano Identity and foster a sense of social cohesion.
