Description: Oswald loves living in Big City! It's got concerts, beaches and best of off, Oswald's friends! See the sights of Big City along with them in these eight great tales of Oswald! Odd One Out Oswald's best friend Henry and Henry's cousin Louie have a lot in common: collecting spoons, dancing the Penguin Polka, having fish-sticks and mackerel milkshakes at lunch. When Louie visits Big City though, Oswald feels a little left out, and wonders if his best buddy Henry has found an even better buddy than him! Goodbye Best Friend Henry decides to leave Big City with his cousin Louie to return to the Frozen North. Oswald will miss his best friend, as will all of Henry's Big City buddies. Will Henry really be able to get on that bus and say goodbye to all his friends? Friends Indeed Daisy mistakes Henry's favorite spoon for a shovel; then, Henry steps on Daisy's plant. When this leads to an argument between the two friends, Oswald finds himself stuck in the middle! He needs to do all that he can to get his friends to be friends again. Sammy Starfish Live Oswald thinks the swinging, singing Sammy Starfish is the greatest, so when he hears that Sammy is performing in Big City, he invites some friends to see the big star with him. But his friends get the chance to see some other big stars too - Oswald and Weenie! a Day at the Beach! Oswald, Weenie and Daisy can't wait to get in the water at Big Beach, but Henry doesn't want to get his feathers wet. He just wants to read his newspaper in his beached raft. But when Daisy gets stuck on an island, Henry has to take the plunge and row to the rescue! The Sand Sculpture Contest Oswald is the judge at the Annual Big City Sand Sculpture Contest. It's a big honor, but it's also a big challenge. Daisy, Henry, the Egg Twins, and even Catrina all have their own award-worthy styles of sand sculpting. How will Oswald choose a winner? the Tomato Garden Oswald and Weenie love red, ripe, juicy tomatoes, so they start a garden. But Oswald finds that the snails in his garden love his tomatoes too! Oswald must figure out a way to grow enough tomatoes for himself, for Weenie, and for the hungry snails. Bird Watching Daisy wants to go bird watching with Oswald, but she's a little too full of energy to stay as still and quiet as a birdwatcher needs to be. But when Oswald gets stuck on the back of a giant Mee-Tah bird, Daisy becomes just the type of bird watching buddy he needs! The first two stories focus on the relationship between Oswald the blue octopus and his best friend Henry the penguin. When Henry's cousin from the Frozen North comes to town, Oswald feels left out as the birds bond over mackerel and polka. Then he faces every child's fear when Henry decides to move north with his cousin. But unlike real life, Henry has a change of heart and decides to stay with his friends only to fight with Daisy in the next story after she uses his spoon as a shovel. Then all the friends overcome obstacles to see a musical act together. From the beach to the back yard, the blue octopus and his buddies find plenty to learn in the outdoors. On a trip to the shore, Henry the penguin paradoxically doesn't want to get his feathers wet, but rises to the challenge when reckless Daisy needs rescuing. Next, Oswald has the difficult task of judging which of his friends' sand sculptures should win the annual contest. (Two words: Everybody wins!) Back at home, when snails invade Oswald's tomato garden, the accommodating octopus buys new tomato plants to share. But the snails eat those, too. Finally, bird watcher Oswald gets impatient with his impulsive floral friend when she keeps scaring off his targets. But those same qualities come in handy when he needs her to bring him down from the back of a giant Mee-Tah bird. This gentle Nick Jr. series cleverly echoes and resolves many of the issues children face, and features kid-friendly voices from the expected--cartoon veteran Debi Derryberry and The Wonder Years' Fred Savage--as well as the unexpected: Laverne and Shirley's David Lander and early SNL regular Laraine Newman.
