The opening of the dock took place at the beginning of the steamship era,
and its location soon proved to be the correct one,
saving steaming time into London and the quick transfer of goods
and passengers onto the train network.

VIPs on the day were presented with a silver medallion commemorating the opening,
others were given a bronze version.

This is obviously the bronze version,
some soiling , scuffing and age wear commensurate with age
has attained a  coppery patina with age
generally in very good condition for age
