• Beschreibung: Rückseitig die Lithographie: 'Artillerie hinter Dünen' von Erich BÜTTNER (1889 Berlin - 1936 Freiburg). Die Radierungen sind jeweils mittig unten betitelt und rechts daneben signiert. Über die Zeitschrift 'Kriegszeit': Im August 1914 begann der Paul Cassirer Verlag mit der Herausgabe der Kriegszeit, einer wöchentlichen, vierseitigen Publikation über künstlerische Reaktionen auf den Ersten Weltkrieg. Die meisten der im Magazin vertretenen Künstler gehörten der Berliner Secession an. Zunächst begrüßten die Kriegszeit-Mitarbeiter den Krieg mit Begeisterung und hatten Vertrauen in das Militär unter Wilhelm II. und den Glauben an die Gerechtigkeit der Deutschen. Dieser Grundströmung folgte aber schon bald die Ernüchterung, die ihren Niederschlag in veränderten Themen fand. Statt patriotisch begeisterter Soldaten in Kampfszenen erschienen schon bald eskapistische, mit kritischen Untertönen versehene Bildwerke mit teils pazifistische Ansätzen.

• Zustand: Guter Zustand. Das Blatt hat sich altersgemäß gelblich verfärbt. Mit Knick- und Knitterfalten entlang des oberen und rechten Blattrands. Die Blattecken sind teils geringfügig bestoßen.

• Description: On the reverse the lithograph: 'Artillery behind Dunes' by Erich BÜTTNER (1889 Berlin - 1936 Freiburg). The etchings are each titled in the lower centre and signed next to it on the right. About the magazine 'Kriegszeit': In August 1914, the Paul Cassirer Verlag began publishing Kriegszeit, a weekly, four-page publication on artistic reactions to the First World War. Most of the artists represented in the magazine belonged to the Berlin Secession. At first, the Kriegszeit contributors greeted the war with enthusiasm and had faith in the military under Wilhelm II and belief in the righteousness of the Germans. However, this basic current was soon followed by disillusionment, which found expression in changed themes. Instead of patriotically enthusiastic soldiers in battle scenes, escapist pictorial works with critical undertones and partly pacifist approaches soon appeared.

• Condition: Good condition. The sheet has yellowish discolouration due to its age. With creases and folds along the upper and right margins. The sheet corners are partly slightly bumped.
