  • Beschreibung: Thomas Wentworth war einer der führenden Politiker im Vorfeld des englischen Bürgerkriegs. 1633-39 war er Vicekönig von Irland. Er wurde vom Langen Parlament unter der Führung von John Pym wegen Hochverrat verurteilt und hingerichtet. Bis heute gilt er in Irland als Symbolfigur eines absoluten englischen Herrschaftsanspruchs.

  • Description: Thomas Wentworth was one of the leading politicians in the run-up to the English Civil War. In 1633-39 he was Viceroy of Ireland. He was convicted of high treason by the Long Parliament under the leadership of John Pym and executed. To this day he is regarded in Ireland as a symbolic figure of an absolute English claim to rule.
