Antique Majolica W. F. Needham Pottery Jardiniere Rd. 271092 Mythical Dragon

A stylish, medium-sized jardiniere with two different moulded mythical dragon-like beasts, with interior in typical Majolica colour. (Note that the whitish tips off the crenellated top are not chips, but areas left uncoloured by the potters). The design registration number dates to 1896. -see full details in the item specifics.

Condition: As to be expected of a used pottery item more than 100 years old, there are a few minor glaze losses and nibbles, and some wear (rubbing) to the rim points. There is crazing to the interior and, what could be a fine star crack, and a fine harline on the base (which I have photographed). Overall, these have little effect on its decorative appeal or usefulness.
