TRAIN ACCIDENT AT KIMMELL, INDIANA 1905, FULLY DOCUMENTED - This is an incredible mounted photograph of a horrific train accident that occurred in Kimmell, Indiana on September 16, 1905.  Onlookers stand amidst a massive pile of twisted iron, where three people died and twenty people were injured. What is truly exceptional about this photograph is the extensive handwritten documentation (flip to see verso of board) by a person who most likely worked for the railroad.

It reads: “Wreck at Kimmell, Ind. Sept 16, 1905.  Passenger train #14 sideswiped a light eng + through the engine & 5 cars of the 9 passing cars in to a unrecognizable mass killing Eng S.D. Snyder & Baggageman Frank Snoots of Chgo Jct and Walter Wilson of Zanesville Ohio a young man who was (beating this way over the road). Twenty or more passengers were injured.
