Plumeria trees originate in Hawaii where they are culturally important; the flowers are used in all kinds of celebrations.

They require high levels of light and warmth to grow to flowering size ( around 3 years old). These ones I grew from seed around 2.5 years ago so next season should be a blooming one!

They drop their leaves in autumn in the UK because there isn't enough daylight hours to sustain the foliage, so treat them like a deciduous succulent. They don't need any water until late spring or until new growth begins to emerge from the tip.

Grow on in a cactus compost with added grit and place in a sunny position.

Water only when the potting mix is dry. If there's one thing succulents hate it's wet feet. They're very prone to stem rot and it can happen very quickly! Avoid letting water sit anywhere in the pot because you will lose the plant.

Plumeria like to be fed frequently throughout the growing season. Use an all-purpose fertiliser every few weeks. I personally use fish tank water with a dose of Bio Grow in it.
