When Harry Blackstone passed in 1997, Magic lost one of its legendary performers.   I was lucky enough to see him perform in our a concert amphitheater in Concord, CA back in 1975, just a couple years after I started in magic.  I remember the Vanishing Birdcage with which he opened the show.   (Loved that repeat he did -- "let me go backstage and get another cage, and another bird" then he came backout as before holding the cage between his hands and got lots of people up on stage to put their hands around his and the cage, and bang!  it vanished again.)    And he closed with the most popular illusion of the era, Robert Harbin's Zig Zag, magically trisecting his wife, Gay.    

After the show, I was lucky enough to have him sign an autograph on a scrap of paper.   Of course, I was 15 years old, and not very smart, so I did not take very good care of this piece of paper.  I had it pinned to my bedroom wall for a few years, so the paper shows a darkened thumbtack mark in the upper left corner.  The paper has some creases also, which may have been there when he signed it -- I think I just got some paper from my Mom's purse for him to sign.   (My mom had go to the show also, because I was not old enough to drive there myself)    :-)

Anyway, I thought I lost this autograph, but recently it fell out of a rolled up poster.  So I figured, probably time to let it move on to another collector who can take better care of it than I ever did.

I have is in plastic wrap with cardboard backing to try to avoid any further damage.  The paper is NOT laminated -- the photo shows it through the plastic covering I have protecting now.

CONDITION NOTE:  this autograph is guaranteed genuine, as it was signed for in my presence by Blackstone when I saw him perform in 1975.   The paper has some creases, and rough edges, plus a thumbtack hole -- I was a dumb kid, and just pinned it to my bulletin board  :-(
