Often mistaken for sapphire, this stone has superior clarity and sparkle.   It is rarer in nature than sapphire.  In fact, the gemstone has had a man-made version dominate the industry because the earth-mined stones are hard to come by.  [the man-made stones are in very specific colors--think your class ring] Natural stones have many color variations.
