This is for an original full ticket for the January 20 1970
NBA All-Star game which was played at the Philadelphia Spectrum. An amazing 20
NBA Hall of Famers would be at courtside including 16 players, along with Nate
Thurmond who was injured and could not play, East coach Red Holzman, West coach
Richie Guerin and one of ABC’s announcers former player Jack Twyman. This game
would be the first All Star game for rookie Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul Jabbar)
and the only All Star game not played by Wilt Chamberlain as he injured his
knee in the ninth game of the season and wouldn’t return until the final three
games of the season. The East would win the game 142-135, even though the West
would score an incredible 50 points in the fourth quarter, an incredible number
considering the game was played much differently than it is today. The MVP
would be Willis Reed who would score 21 points with 11 rebounds in 30 minutes,
even though he would foul out of the game. With only 14 full tickets on the PSA
population report with the highest graded a NM-MT 8, this would look very nice
in a PSA holder or would look even better signed by one of the NBA players who
played in the game before putting it in a slab. A must have for any ticket
collector or NBA collector. Compare this to any other ticket available and see
what a great deal it is.
