Antique Bee Pendant Necklace

This is a beautiful Victorian bee pendant on an antique Figaro belcher link chain. The bees wings sparkle with old mine cut diamonds, its eyes are set with ruby cabochons and the abdomen and thorax has three beautiful blue sapphires. The stones are all set in 9 carat gold and the piece hangs from a 9 carat rose gold chain.

Insects were a popular motif in Victorian jewellery and in their lives, combining both the romance and purity of nature, and the scientific study of entomology and discovery of new worlds and creatures.
