  • Beschreibung: Schöne Architekturdarstellung aus dem französischsprachigen Kompendium des Bonaventura van Overbeke mit römischen Bauwerken der Antike. Das große Stichwerk erschien erstmals 1708 in lateinischer Sprache und wurde 1709 in einer französischen Übersetzung erneut herausgegeben. Die Radierungen wurden alle posthum durch den Cousin des Künstlers, Michiel van Overbeke, herausgegeben. Sie zeichnen sich durch eine hohe Detailtreue der Wiedergabe aus. Oftmals sind den architektonischen Ansichten Staffagefiguren beigegeben, die die Größenverhältnisse zu den antiken Monumenten illustrieren.

  • Zustand: Guter Zustand. Blatt insgesamt wellig. Auf dem Blattrand blass fleckig und etwas verfärbt. Entlang der Kanten leicht verbräunt. Die Darstellung macht einen guten und frischen Eindruck. Im oberen Bereich schwach sichtbare Abdrücke der aufliegenden Seite in Form von Medaillons.

  • Description: Beautiful architectural illustration from the French-language compendium of Bonaventura van Overbeke with Roman buildings of antiquity. The large engraving work first appeared in Latin in 1708 and was republished in a French translation in 1709. The etchings were all published posthumously by the artist's cousin Michiel van Overbeke. They are characterised by a high level of detail in their reproduction. Staffage figures are often added to the architectural views to illustrate the proportions of the ancient monuments.

  • Condition: Good condition. Sheet wavy overall. Pale stains and some discolouration on the margins. Slightly browned along the edges. The image makes a good and fresh impression. In the upper area faintly visible impressions of the overlying page in the form of medallions.
