Your attention is invited to a unique piece of history - a HUGE key to the padlock of the main synagogue in the city of Lokhvitsa, late 19th century (at that time - southern Russia, now - Ukraine).

The Jewish synagogue in the city of Lokhvitsa, Poltava province, was a monumental, richly decorated building, one of the most beautiful synagogues in the Left-bank part of Ukraine. The architecture of the building was made in the Neo-Renaissance style.

Construction was completed at the beginning of the 20th century. Most of the funds for the construction of the synagogue were donated by the Dunaevsky family, the owners of the local tobacco factory. A member of this family is Isaac Dunayevsky, a well-known Soviet composer in the future.

In 1907, this synagogue was already the main synagogue of the entire Lokhvitsky district. The rabbi was Efroimson Efroim Abramovich, the headman was Dusavitsky Tsodik.

50 kilometers from Lokhvitsa is the grave of the Jewish philosopher, rabbi, kabbalist, founder of the Hasidic movement Chabad - Alter Rebbe (Shneur Zalman from Lyad).

During the Soviet period, the synagogue was first closed and then converted into an incubator. The dome of the synagogue was dismantled, its interiors were destroyed, the premises were replanned.

The building is currently in disrepair.

The key is made of metal, has a VERY LARGE size.
