This is a folded steel, traditionally-made item, most items on the internet that are listed as "hand made" or "hand forged" do not refer to it being a genuine, traditionally crafted item. And those that are, are usually quite a bit more pricey.

I am selling it because I am saving up money to pursue my career and travel goals.

I do not remember the name of the sword master who created it, unfortunately, as it was 13 years ago that I had purchased it from him at a "How to forge a japanese sword" 3 day event in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He is from the United States, but he has studied as a disciple under a sword master in Japan in order to learn his craft. He has employed traditional crafting methods such as charcoal fire and using clay during the tempering process in order to create the "mountain range" pattern you see along the blade.

This is not created in batches using modern machinery. This has been forged by hand from everything to the hammering and folding of the steel to the shark skin handle and wooden sheath. There is only one like it.

His original price for the item was 10k$ Canadian. If you prefer to make an offer that is lower than this I will consider it, as I would rather sell it a lower price and save you money, than have it collect dust.

It is a beautiful collector's item and can cut through rolled-up bamboo mats no problem using proper technique.

I have never cut anything with it myself but you could if you wanted to. (It is made sharp.) Please be respectful with it and enjoy its rare beauty. The sakura enhance its natural beauty with additional blooms in various places on the sword. And the deep green accents remind us of the mountain forests.

Sakura flower theme. Antiquated copper, black, green and gold colours.

Included with the sword is a certificate describing the sword in Japanese.

Will be shipped in two pieces, to avoid unnecessarily bending the certificate.
