Meteoritical Bulletin Information:
Name: Hassi el Biod 002
Classification: Pallasite-Ungrouped
Find Date: 2021
Location:  Ouargla, Algeria

Purchased in 2021 by Mark Lyon from a meteorite dealer in Mauritania.  Five identically appearing masses (total 10 kg) found together. Saw cut surface shows angular cm-sized dark-orange olivine grains set in metal. There are also smaller scattered olivines set in the host metal. The modal abundances are approximately 60% metal, 38% olivine, 2% troilite.  Electron microprobe analysis and imaging reveal the presence of magnesian olivine, kamacite, and minor troilite. No other phases were detected with both EPMA and SEM searches.  This is a unique pallasite type both in terms of olivine composition and oxygen isotopes. Along with Milton, this meteorite is the only other ungrouped that is not a pyroxene pallasite, however Milton and this meteorite are not paired and do not have olivine compositions and oxygen isotopes that are similar.
