VERY RARE 2000 VOLVO V70R/V70R AWD (All Wheel Drive) W/2.4L TURBO WAGON - LASER BLUE! This car is for someone looking for one of these as a project. I inherited the car from my wife who had bought it from my step-son, so it has had very few miles in the last 5-6 years. I just don't have the time, energy or desire to take on a project like this. A prior owner stated that the engine had been rebuilt by them, but to what extent I do not know. It starts easily, runs and drives, but is a little rough. The car has been garaged for the last seven years. The color is a very desirable "Laser Blue", which was unique to the V70 R AWD at the time. A previous owner had painted blue "flames" (see photos). The mileage shown is believed to be the true mileage (Approximately 119,690) which is considered low, averaging about 5000 miles per year. I know over the last five years, the car has been driven less  than 100 miles total. I will provide recent CARFAX and other information to the buyer.

According to one of the online Volvo Forums, only about 500 of these "V70 R AWD" models were imported into the United States for the 2000 model year. Who knows how many are actually left. It was also the last year of the first generation which was produced from 1998 to 2000. I also believe this was the only year for dual exhaust. According to Classic.com, there have only been five of the first generation V70 R’s sold in the last five years, with an average selling price of over $13,000, and a high price of $22,000 at auction (see last photo). So if you are looking to refurbish and resell, there's quite a good margin for profit.

Based upon a review of several valuation websites, I would put this car in the upper end of the "Fair" condition range. Most of what it needs are cosmetic (see photos), but there are a couple of issues that need to be mentioned.

- CARFAX indicates right rear pillar damage in Feb 2004. No visible repairs or damage to that area noted. An astute eBayer noted a color mismatch on the left (Driver's side) passenger door, and I noticed a definite line on the left rear pillar with that paint miss-match. Perhaps this is what they were referring to.

- CARFAX also noted an open recall from 2006. Most likely resolved, but check with a Volvo dealership to be sure.

- A/C works but will need a recharge - compressor is good.

- OBD-II codes displayed are P0102 - Mass Airflow Sensor, and P0013 - B Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit. I have also had code P1332 show intermittently, but it appears to be associated with P0013. Each of these codes should be a relatively easy fix.

- There is some minor body and frame rust.

- Lower kick panel on passenger side is not attached (see photo).

- All fluids (brake, oil, transmission, etc.) should be changed because the car has NOT been worked on or driven much over the last seven years.

- The radio is an Alpine OEM Volvo AM/FM/Cassette with 3-disk CD Changer (SC-901), everything seems to work properly, but I did not test the CD or cassette player for sound. A previous owner had installed a Metra FM Mod 02 FM Frequency Modulator. I have not checked this out.

- There is only one key and one key fob. The key fob is in poor shape, but functions properly.

- There is no owner’s manual, but it can be found online.

- Highly recommend loading the car onto a flatbed for transportation because of the need for fluid changes and the engine codes.

The engine is listed in error in several sources as a 2.3 liter turbo, but in fact it is a unique 2.4 liter that was used only on the 2000 V70 R AWD. The automatic transmission is a five speed.
