Gorgeous and neatly detailed and colored Royal Doulton double-handle Character jug of CHARLES DICKENS D6939. Produced in a Limited Edition of 2,500, this one is number 508.

Charles Dickens (1812 – 1870) was an English novelist and social critic who created some of the world's best-known fictional characters, and is regarded by many as the greatest 19^th Century novelist of the Victorian era. 

The jug double handles depict the characters in his famous stories. On the left handle: Oliver Twist, Sarah Gamp, and Scooge and on the right handle: Little Nell, Mr. Pickwick and Little Dorritt

Height is about 7 inches. Excellent Pre-owned condition with no chips, cracks, glazing, etc. The jug has a sound when you shake it. This is a very common thing in pottery where a very "minute" particle of the clay inside a very confined space of the piece separates during the firing (more than 1000 deg C) and becomes free inside making that sound. The jug has passed Royal Doulton inspection and has the QC sticker on it.
