The Rosebud Annual 1900

Author: Various
Title: The Rosebud Annual 1900
Publication: London: James Clarke & Co., 1900
Edition: First (only)

Description: various. 192.

The Rosebud was a children's magazine published from 1881 to 1916 An annual collection was produced to collect the best stories, poems and illustrations of each year's content

Because the books were produced for and used by children, and because the paper quality was of the unfortunate, late 1800's common quality (prone to age darkening) not many have survived in good condition

This copy is fair only, in red cloth with black titles on the spine and black, green, blue and gilt titles and illustration on the front cover The binding is loose, with the hinges cracked and the cloth spine cover separating from the text block, although still holding together there is sign of water staining at the lower spine and wear at the spine ends and corners The endpapers and pages edges are age darkened and the rear endpaper is missing, but no loss to text There is minor soiling throughout and a fairly well-executed child's pencil drawing of an eagle or hawk on the rear pastedown

192 pp. Fair.
